Aro
Launch film, brand, and companion app for a smart ring that tracks sleep, recovery, and heart rate from the inside of the band.
Twenty-nine seconds. Unmute for the score.
The brief
Aro is a concept smart ring startup, and this was its launch package: a name, a mark, the ring itself in three finishes, a thirty-second film, and the first screens of the app. The product has no screen and no buttons. It reads sleep, recovery, and heart rate from sensors on the inside of the band, and you look at the app once in the morning.
The film had to do three things in under thirty seconds: make a small object feel expensive, show what it measures without a voiceover, and land the one line the brand is built on. Wear it and forget it.
The brand
Aro is Spanish for ring. Three letters, one way to say it. The mark is a ring whose stroke thins toward a single dot, the sensor, so the logo describes the product. It holds at favicon size and carries the whole film's title work in a light weight of Manrope, set wide.
The product
A 7.8 mm band, 2.5 mm thick, with a shallow crown outside and a comfort curve inside, so the edges catch light the way a machined ring does. Brushed titanium, polished silver, and brushed gold. Inside the band, a dark resin liner carries three sensor domes and two LED windows. The outside stays plain on purpose. Nothing on it says it is a device.
The film
One black surface, one hard raking light, no set. The rings arrive by dropping, rolling, and settling, so every move has a physical cause and the metal gets to do the work. The middle of the film holds on the ring while the morning readout draws in beside it, sleep, recovery, and heart rate, the same numbers the app shows. A macro inside the band reveals the sensors, then the three finishes come to rest together under the line.
The app
The ring has no screen, so the app carries the reading. Three screens in the film's language: a morning recovery score with last night's sleep and heart rate under it, the night itself as stages with a seven-night history, and a thirty-day view of where recovery is heading. Nothing is set below 12 px, secondary text clears 5:1 on both surfaces, and every tab is a 48 px target with an icon and a label, so the reading works at arm's length in the dark.
